Discover New Opportunities with LinkedIn’s AI-Powered Job Search & More!

Job seekers face a competitive market, but LinkedIn has powerful tools to help you stand out and land your next role, so tap into these resources.
Keep Your Profile Fresh
Ensure your profile is complete, engaging, and up-to-date. LinkedIn’s algorithm prioritizes profiles with recent activity, so post updates, share relevant content, and engage with your network. Commenting creates visibility, discoverability, and credibility, but you should add thought leadership that adds value.
Update your headline with a key title, keywords, and a unique selling proposition (USP) and “About” section to highlight your top skills and career goals.
Search for the Freshest Jobs by Changing 86400 in the URL
There are 86,400 seconds in a day, so find the most recent jobs posted! Here is how you do it, step-by-step:
- Click on the jobs tab
- Enter a job title in the search bar
- If you don’t see a location search bar come up, look to the top right and, click on the down arrow, and change from Beta to Classic mode
- Now, enter the major metropolitan area near you
- Click Date Posted and choose “Past 24 hours”
- Change the 86400 in the URL to 600, 1200, or 3600, for example
- You will see the most recent jobs posted

Explore AI-Powered Job Recommendations
LinkedIn’s AI features analyze your experience and suggest tailored job opportunities. Check the “Jobs” tab and let LinkedIn’s recommendations introduce you to some possible new roles you might not have considered. You can use your natural language to type in what you seek. It’s still in Beta mode, but you can learn more here. In Kevin Turner’s post, he provides a recap of the features and a link where you can provide feedback to LinkedIn.
Get Skills Match Insights on Jobs
When exploring job postings, note the “Skills Match” feature. It shows how closely your skills align with the job requirements, giving you a chance to highlight your most relevant experience or fill any gaps.
Explore LinkedIn’s GitHub
LinkedIn’s Career Explorer GitHub is worth checking out. Scroll down the page until you find a search bar in the middle where you can type your city instead of the default of Atlanta. Then, enter a job title (which must be in the database) to see the suggested keywords for that role. You may want to go down the rabbit hole and review all the other info to the right of that as you scroll down.
Use Premium “Top Choice” Jobs
Although not a new feature, you may not know that you can express a keen interest in three roles. LinkedIn Premium members can mark a job post as a “Top Choice.”
Key Takeaway
LinkedIn is more than a digital resume. It’s for any career professional, whether employed, self-employed, unemployed, or another category.
It’s a dynamic platform for discovering new opportunities and showcasing your value.
By updating your profile regularly, refreshing your profile monthly, and leveraging tools, resources, and new tips and techniques along the way, you’ll be on your way to your next great role.
