A man’s job matters on a date, writes JANA HOCKING, and there are five careers women are instantly turned on by… and I can tell you why first hand
- Jana Hocking has listed the jobs she finds the ‘biggest turn on’ in a man
- They include paramedics, CEOs and cameramen
- She also likes bartenders and lawyers
Last week I made a rather bold statement by saying that asking a potential love interest what they do for a job matters. Good lord it caused some debate, but I still stand by those words.
To recap, it’s a really good insight into their personality. Are they creative? Are they more analytical? Do numbers turn them on or does a more flamboyant job take their fancy? Do they have high ambition or are they happy to just cruise through life?
It got me thinking about what jobs are the ultimate turn-on for any woman with a pulse.
You see, I got my first job at 14 years old and have had a million and one jobs since then. During that time, I’ve found myself ridiculously turned on by co-workers I would normally never look twice at. Something about them being in their natural habitat, focused deeply on the tools of their trade is alluring.
Sure, there’s your stereotypical ‘sexy’ jobs that include firefighters and police officers but how cliché! Unless they come in stripper form at a hen’s party I ain’t interested!
So, with that in mind, I thought I would put together a list of jobs that are uniquely sexy. You may think they are a little random, but just listen to my reasoning and then try not to get turned on. You’re welcome.
Jana Hocking says there are five jobs she’s instantly attracted to when dating
Ok, this is a rather embarrassing story but about a year ago I ate a brownie that I didn’t realise was full of marijuana. I started ‘greening out’ and thought I was having a stroke. I was so freaked out I called an ambulance and they sent a male paramedic on a motorbike. He took one look at my face and bloodshot eyes before breaking out in laughter and telling me I was just really high.
It was equal parts mortifying and hilarious. He ended up staying with me for the next hour to monitor me and we sat cross legged on the floor having a good ol’ chat. The way he acted so caring, checking my pulse and making me feel less like the idiot that I am was so hot. Someone saying ‘It’s ok I’ve got it from here’ is the sexiest feeling in the world.
I worked at a TV station and there was a CEO who was not physically attractive at all.
But he walked around that station like a god, and my female colleagues and I would seriously swoon. He may not have been classically handsome, but his aura was powerful. He would bark at people, and demand authority.
Okay Daddy, whatever you say!
The three ‘red flag’ jobs I’m turned off by when dating
Firstly, because they would be horrified at how I tally my expenses and keep a budget (I don’t!) and secondly because I love chatting to my partner about their day. I want to hear about the drama, the theatrics, the interesting meetings they’ve had. Numbers just aren’t my jam.
Medical talk puts me to sleep, and I say that with love having two family members who work in the profession. All those strange long words, and technical terms. I’m not going to keep up with you, and to be fair, I don’t want to.
Whilst I would kill to have their organisational skills, I fear my chaotic life would drive them slightly bonkers. My home is eclectic there’s absolutely no order to it, I like to make plans on the fly, and the only lists I make are for groceries. I fear we would not have much in common.
I’ve worked on quite a few TV shows – The Bachelor, Getaway, So You Think You Can Dance – and there’s something so attractive about a man holding a big camera on their shoulders.
They are usually so hyper focused on getting the right footage and capturing the right angle that they tend to ignore you for most of the working day. Sure, directors are important, but the real weight of the show relies on the cameraman getting it all on film. A man ignoring me is horribly toxic and horribly sexy.
My current friend with benefits is a bartender, and it all began when he made me a very dirty gin martini. This sexy job probably sits on the shallower end of the spectrum, but let’s be honest bartenders have great banter, we get to see their muscles when they shake up a cocktail and under the haze of strong spirits everyone becomes just that little more va va voom.
Cameramen: I’ve worked on quite a few TV shows – The Bachelor, Getaway, So You Think You Can Dance – and there’s something so attractive about a man holding a big camera on their shoulders
Anyone who will defend my honour (whether being paid for it or not) gets me going. Plus, they wear tailored suits, act slightly cocky, have a brain as large as their pay packet and demand attention in a packed court room. Almost makes you want to go on a crime spree. Almost.
Now there are quite a few more job titles I could include, but basically if you have a job that involves any form of authority, a nice suit, a gentle touch or a sense of control, then you are most definitely getting some poor co-worker very hot under the collar.
Stop it you cheeky devil.
