“The chamber (of commerce) and our partners, the Municipality of Kincardine and the County of Bruce, were very pleased to see both the wide selection of job opportunities available and the number of job seekers who attended to investigate the options available,” said Tammy Schneider, executive director of the Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce. “Some of the companies in attendance were so pleased with the skills of candidates that they arranged interviews or offered positions on the spot.”

Nearly three dozen companies searching for full-time, part-time and seasonal help accepted resumes during the four-hour Job Fair and Career Expo, which was attended by approximately 300 people.

“While many job seekers came out looking for employment, others were looking for career information and guidance on how to achieve their career goals,” Schneider explained.

Colleges and employment services were also on site, offering career training options for those looking for new or second career opportunities.

“We were delighted to have had several conversations that included interest in working with our organization, as well as conversations pertaining to our business needs,” said Tina Janssen, representing Hammond Power Solutions (HPS). “Not only was the event well organized, job seekers were also guided to booths that were identified as a fit for their needs. HPS is looking forward to the next event hosted by the Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event be a great success.”

Anna Lennox, recruiter and human resources co-ordinator at Day & Zimmermann, also had success at the event.

“Day & Zimmermann was happy to participate in Kincardine’s job fair. It was a fantastic event and we enjoyed connecting with many engaged candidates in our local community,” said Lennox.
